A very pleasant stay at The Bear Hotel. Nice and central for Devizes. Was a little concerned to look out onto the Main Street on arrival in the room but needn't have worried, it was so quiet. A very comfortable room - No 4. Nice breakfast next morning. Would definately stay there again if visiting Devizes.
Nothing not to like about The Bear Hotel.

By and large, it was good choice for sightseeing in Devizes, had much fun and met welcoming and exceptional staff at the reception desk. I loved warm room, it had an exceptionally comfortable bed, iron and ironing board, coffee/tea making machines, and a work desk.

We enjoyed the beer garden and caught some live music in the cozy cellar. The staff were super friendly and the breakfast was a highlight. Don't miss out on the well-kept ales! The location is perfect for exploring local shops and pubs.
We faced a bit of a hassle with the parking situation, as it was confusing and we had to pay separately, which wasn't great.

I found the hotel very welcoming, relaxing and very well and tastefully decorated. So many hotels of this age look run down, but not The Bear. I also liked the fact that local staff were employed, again so often the hotels are staffed by Europeans. Although we only stayed one night, in order to see the Caens hill locks, I wish we had a reason to return.

Location, The Bear offers almost everything you would require in a hotel, good food either in the Bistro, restaurant or bar, a facility for meetings and family parties, immaculately furnished and decorated bedrooms and most of all, a lovely old building right in the centre of town.

The building although old has been renovated extensively whilst still retaining atmosphere. The room was very comfortable and had every facility we wanted. The food was excellent.

The meal was well prepared, and I appreciated the menu variety. The staff were engaging. Being someone who enjoys local cuisine, I found the dishes to be quite fulfilling.
The hotel common areas felt dated, and I noticed some maintenance issues. The breakfast options lacked freshness and variety.
